There’s a quote in one of Joni’s song that somehow feels so familiar, a subject of contemplation.

All the guilty people he said,

They all see the stains,

On their daily bread, on their christian name…

Familiar because it pretty much sums me up.

I see stains everywhere I go, the negativity around a place is the first thing that may catch my attention.

So, the question came into my mind, am I guilty? Is the problem actually within here?

But I know that I see all the stains because the knowledge I have. Is the knowledge the sin itself?

To think deeper makes me come to a conclusion, it is not the stain-seeing that makes me guilt, it’s actually the way those stains influence me, the way I react. Usually they make me sad, annoyed, affected by all the negativity, thus becoming the stain itself.

So, now what I hope to see in myself is the grace to clean the stains, or the ignorance to live with them.

Yeah, grace and ignorance, dualism, as usual.

If you are guessing the title, then I shall tell you. No no, it’s not Lord of The Dong or anything like that, hehehe.

It’s actually Lesson of The Day.

Well, not quite new actually, not up to the day, but just say that this is the first time I record it in my tumblr blog.

So I learn again that wherever there is organization/hierarchy/institution/crowd/group/you name it, there shall be a power, and power tend to corrupt, one is superior to others.

And I learned that there is no such thing as equality in this life.

No? You don’t agree?

If you say that: 1=1

Then I shall say that 1 on the left might not have the same quality as 1 on the right.

Life is 1.

It’s monopoly, it’s monotheist, it’s tyrant with absolute power.

What about 0?

Well, it should be the condition before the Big Bang event, I guess. Or maybe it’s some kind of Undead being.

Put 1 and 0 together, then it will become binary, yin yang.

So, I learned again, Yin Yang is not about equality, it’s about balance and harmony.

I shall take Yin Yang path then.

So, who you’re gonna get to do the dirty works, when all the slaves are free?

Music of My Life

So, this time I want to talk about the music that I favored.

No Nooo, I’m not going to boast about how tasteful I am in choice of music, I actually considered myself musically illiterate. If somebody happens to pop question like “What is your favorite music?” I’ll probably response with a “Huh?”

I just won’t say that I loved jazz or orchestra or classic just to falsely show how classy and artsy I am.

So again, this is not about wine tasting competition, this is about the sound of my soul, ok? Pheww, let’s keep going, it feels good after putting this kind of disclaimer, because you know, people nowadays are very easily misunderstood you and then get offended, hohoho.

Back to the topic, the music of my life would be the most songs by Joni Mitchell, and she the singer-songwriter herself would be my all time favorite artist and poet.

For you who know who she is and enjoying her music as well, I shall tell you that I have been listening to her for at least 4 years. At first, I was drawn to her most “commercial” album Blue, then I advanced to her much more sophisticated later albums such as Wild Things Run Fast. Now for months, I stayed with compilation album Travelogue, listening to Job’s Sad Song and The Judgement of The Moon and Stars, seven days in a week enjoying the matured voice singing many songs from her youth, adding them with thick layer of aged experiences.

And for you who does not know who Joni Mitchell is, few things I can describe about her (from my point of view) are:

She was a heavy smoker, and probably still so.
Her music changed from time to time but always ahead of time, and her voice was changing just like her music too, it got matured by the smoking. The haters often bash her on this matter though.
She describe herself as a painter, she paints a lot, she never sell her paintings though, and somehow I think that painting is her last and purest reserve of idealism, something that is not tainted by commercialism.
She despised music industry.
She is terribly judged by media.
Nowadays, artists are made, not born. That is what she said, which I agree heartily.
Contemporary pop lover will describe her as bitter and full of preach. But I and other fans will perceive her as an idealist with heart and mind.

After reading all of that, for you who find yourself curious and want to try to taste her music, I must warn you though, her music is not some catchy tunes that will glue onto your mind easily, I would simply say that it will take time to actually feel most of her songs, she is a poet, the lyrics of her songs are naturally deep and personal. At her prime time, her music publisher actually told her to made more “radio friendly” song.

Of course, if you insist, I would recommend you to start with some of her “easier” songs. If you are feeling a little bit naughty right now, try You Turn Me on, I’m a Radio, that is a song from her For The Roses album, a song she made sarcastically after being told to create more radio friendly song, and ironically that song actually was very well received. If you are melancholy, try River, or Blue, those two songs are from her Blue album. If you are feeling old and wise, try Both Sides Now.

Basically, that was what I did when I stumbled upon her music, I started from easy to sophisticated, song to song, to the point that I choose each of her album for each phase of my life. So, try that if you could, and after that, whether you are into her music or not, it will be your call.

Last but not least, one thing I want to share is about my past music taste, I loved mainstream pop songs, I loved the so called diva level singers with their sharp melodic voices. But now, they are much like confetti seen on TV set, nothing but a bunch of high pitched screamers slapping their colorful shiny boobs and asses around. Things change, time flies, and I’m glad that I get to know a bit about Joni and her music.

So, I stumbled upon an online news about a korean star who had committed suicide.

In case you are wondering, nooo no, I don’t watch K-Drama, so don’t look at me with that kind of stare, hehehe.

Frankly, I care less about the news, it was the comment below the news that caught my attention.

A commentator preached about how a person should have strong faith toward God, so that kind of tragedy won’t happen.

That just made my eyes couldn’t stop rolling.

I just want to say, SHUT UP BITCH! As if being faithful to God will make a person becoming a Superman. As if you know the mind of those who had killed themselves.

Imagine this, suddenly you are cast into the darkness, and you have to walk alone, you can’t think, only despair there, and suddenly death seems to be the easiest way to end it all. So it’s not about faith or choice, you just walk straight and ended up at the bottom of the abyss, mindless and lifeless.

So again, SHUT UP and live your life, just cherish your damn holy mind as long as you have it, and pray that God would give you endless light. Maybe you’ll get lucky because the God happens to have the very same faith as yours.

While tragedy will always be faithless.

I come to believe that civilization is driven by human curiosity. We are what we are today because we always wanted to know the unknown, to seek the knowledge, to think the other way around. So, on that path, this is my thought.

At the time Adam and Eve lived in the garden, they actually had no curiosity, they lived in God’s will, till the moment Eve reached the forbidden apple (which is forbidden because God said so) and made it Adam’s apple instead, that was the moment of truth when they decided to live on their own will, to find out why and what.

Thus, God decided that Adam and Eve had passed all the qualifications to be independent, God gave them a new playground filled with mysteries an wonders waiting to be discovered. That was the first light of civilization.

That’s what I always believe, and if I’m wrong, then I have to say that what The God neglected was the fact that human is bound by dualism. Part of us enjoyed freedom with all the struggle, while others prefer to live as God’s pet. The deliverance is also perceived as a form of damnation.

So, some of us come out with the idea of religion, craving to be back to the garden, seeing that all the shits are a form of the God’s wrath, rejecting the idea of mankind determining their own fate.

Alas, that is a form of free will too.

So, go on. I completely forgot what this writing is about.

You know what? Trinity is not a myth, it’s the way this world goes around.

We as human being, live in three zones; black, white, and gray.

Surely you can argue that it should be only black and white, the yellow and green, or whatever the dualism is; and yes I would agree with you. Dualism should be the nature itself, just like you have two nose holes, two ears, two eyes, one hole for input and another for output. Sadly, when it’s about human being, most time we would have to take it apart from the nature, and yes, that would make the unnatural become part of the nature too, or is it just the two sided coin?

So, back to the trinity thingy and the zones, which one would I prefer? Should it be black, white, or grey?

Black and white are just like dictator and benevolent leader; gray is the opportunist (or situational wise if you love to put it that way).

Black and white are just like homosexual and heterosexual; gray is the bisexual being.

Which one will you choose?

Dictator would say, “Follow me or dead.”

And the benevolent leader would say, “Follow me and thou shalt be rewarded.”

While the opportunist is coming up with the idea of “Follow me, for the greater good.”

The homosexual prefers same sex, the heterosexual is the opposite sex, and the bisexual takes them all and set the rule about how being gay is about choice.

For now, I would personally say that I shall follow either black or white, definitely not the gray one. For me, it’s about being a person, where you can stand your ground. It’s a rigid path of glory or destruction.

This world we live in now is ruled by the grey, isn’t it? You might hold your idealism high at one time, and being forced to ditch it like shit at the other, and then you can pick it up again later. All for the namesake of the greater good.

In the end, would you be a one day glory phoenix, or thousand years surviving cockroaches? That’s your call.

Di Carrefour Puri Indah Jakarta ada kasir Express dengan embel-embel aturan bahwa maximal pembelian adalah 10 item dengan pembayaran tunai.

Konon untuk memudahkan pembeli yang belanjaannya sedikit.

Nyatanya?

Ada pelanggan gak tahu diri yang dorong-dorong kereta belanja, pastinya isinya bukan 10 item dong, pindahin belanjaannya dari kereta ke 2 keranjang.
